FREE Wings at Buffalo Wild Wings if the NFL Lockout Ends by 7/20

I used to have 3 reasons I like the fall and winter. Now that Starbucks sells their Pumpkin Loaf year-round, there are only 2:

-Starbucks Pumpkin Latte
-NFL Football and all that goes with it!

Now this lock out is really cramping my style, and obviously Buffalo Wild Wings is feeling it too.

Without a football season I won't know what to do on Sundays and Monday Nights! I won't get to wear my Dallas Clark jersey without crying a little, and I won't get to see the Redskins win the Super Bowl... wait, who am I kidding.

BUT, if the NFL Lockout end by July 20th, you can "win" 6 FREE wings from Buffalo Wild Wings!

Head on over here to "like" them and have your chance for FREE wings!

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!

When I started this blog I wasn't sure what to expect. I didn't know if anyone would ever see it. I had tried to start a blog on several occasions and just had never been able to find my voice... all I knew was that I wanted to show others how to save money realistically. And with all of your help, I feel like I have finally been able to accomplish that.

After I was selected for the show and filmed, I figured I would see the episode and then that would be it. All I had ever wanted from that experience was to be able to show that it is possible to save money and have a full and happy life. That you can coupon and save money at ANY age and you can still see savings while still working a 40 hour week.

Before the show not many people ever knew I couponed. A lot of our close friends and family knew, but that was about it. Even friends who had been to our house several times never even knew. So sticking my neck out and accepting to do the show was a BIG step for me.

After the show aired I had a mixed bag of responses but the overall response was WONDERFUL! So many people wanted to learn to save and all I ever wanted to do was to show people that saving money can be 100% realistic.

I have always said that Chris and I have been so blessed in every aspect of our life. Not everything has gone as we have planned, but never would I have ever guessed that couponing, the show or this blog was ever in HIS plan.

I want you all to know how THANKFUL I am for you. Without you I may have given up on this blog and never found my voice. I am truly so blessed to have so many wonderful readers! Couponing has always been a bit of a passion since I began, but you all have helped to renew that passion even more!

Know that I will always do my best to get the deals out to you as fast I can. And know that I am trying to keep up with your emails and comments. I am so sorry that I may not get to them as quickly as I would like, but I will get back with you. Thank you all for coming back everyday. Thank you all for your comments and emails. Thank you, Thank you Thank you!!!

And don't stop emailing or commenting! I try to incorporate your questions and comments into posts the best I can! If there is something you would like to see more of, let me know! This blog is for YOU!

Thank you all so much!!

HAPPY SAVING!

Summer of Savings: Stub Hub! and Cheap Cardinals Games!

One of the reasons I started couponing was just to be able to enjoy my life and to be able to go out and have fun. But you don't always have to pay full price to have fun either!

When we had first moved to St Louis we weren't big baseball fans. Theonly time I had ever been to a MLB games was in Atlanta on a high school band trip! But we quickly we swept into Cardinal Fever here! But I only enjoy baseball live and in person, it just isn't the same on TV.

And while we now love going to games, I also have this uncontrollable fear of heights. And the majority of the time, the cheapest seats are in the "nose bleed" section, even though the view is pretty cool. And the seats closer to the ground can get pretty costly!

But with Stub Hub! I can get those closer seats for A LOT less!

I am a BIG fan of the bleachers and right now I am looking at bleacher seats (closer to the ground!) for only $5 each! And the Terrace seats are even cheaper!

With those kind of prices, it is totally affordable for a family of 4 to go see a Cardinals Game! Go here to check out all of the cheap seats!

And don't want to buy drinks in the Stadium, no problem.

"Fans can bring their own food & drinks into Busch Stadium for all 81 games. Alcohol, bottles, cans, thermoses, hard-sided coolers, hard plastic cups/mugs are not permitted. Non-alcoholic beverages including water and soda in open cups or in clear plastic bottles no larger than 2 liters are allowed. Food & beverages from the outside will not be permitted in the Cardinals Club, Luxury Suites, Party Suites or any of our other All Inclusive Areas." Go here to get all of details!

And what about parking you say. I have got a solution for that too!

Most (not all) of the bars and restaurants in Soulard and surrounding areas offer FREE shuttles to the games, and it is FREE parking on the streets!

AND Bars like Big Daddy's in Soulard even have GREAT food and drink specials, like $5 burgers on Tuesdays after 5pm AND a FREE shuttle to the game!

I use Stub Hub! all the time for concerts and football games too! To see all of the events on Stub Hub, go here!

FREE Admission to Magic House on Wonder-Full Wednesday Nights!

Are you looking for a Fun and Enriching family night?

Head on over to The Magic House every Wednesday this summer until Aug 31, 2011 from 5:30pm- 9pm and get FREE family admission.

Go here to get all the details!

And don't forget about Target Free Family Nights too. Go here to get all of the dates and details!

Meet Kevin James at the St Louis Zoo on 6/29!

Are you fan of Kevin James, star of the Zookeeper?

I am! And I'm not gonna lie, I have always had a bit of a celebrity crush on him (weird, I know), so when I saw this I just HAD to share.

TOMORROW, June 29, Kevin James is scheduled to be at the St Louis Zoo at 9am!!!

"The St. Louis Zoo is the only zoo in the country that is hosting a premiere on behalf of the film, a publicist for the movie said in an email today. The premiere does not include a screening of the film.

The plan is for James to greet fans at the Zoo beginning at 9 a.m. outside of "The Living World" building and inside the Zoo grounds. The premiere will include local celebrities and some animals from the Children's Zoo, the publicist said. Admission to the Zoo and the premiere is free."

Did you catch that word at the end? FREE!

If you have ever been to the St Louis Zoo, you already know that Zoo admission is always FREE! And this event is FREE! And who doesn't like to meet celebrities!

To read more about this event, go here.

The Zookeeper comes to theaters July 8 and has some big names voicing some of the animals! To find out how you can see this movie and many others at a discount go here and here!

And let us know if you head to the Zoo tomorrow! I wish I was going to be able to go!!

Mailbox Surprises!

Did you get your Zone Perfect Sample in the mail today?

I did, sort of... My Zone Perfect Bar sample came in the mail today, but I only saw the wrapper! My dogs got to the mail while we were at work and enjoyed the bar for themselves, leaving me nothing but a torn up wrapper to clean up!

But luckily, they left the coupon for $1 off a multipack or 2 singles unscathed! Amazing the coupon didn't have a single toothmark in it!!

Have you received any goodies in the mail recently?

Groupon: Chevy's Fresh Mex $9 for $18 worth of food!!!

I don’t know about you, but I am a huge fan of Mexican food! And While I do enjoy local restaurants, I LOVE Chevy’s Fresh Mex! I could eat it just about every day! So when I saw the Groupon for Chevy’s this morning I was STOKED!!! I am daydreaming of Chicken Flautas and Chimichangas and their Jalapeno jelly!! MMMM!!

So TODAY, you can pick up a Groupon for $18 at Chevy’s Tex Mex (3 St Louis locations) for only $9!!

I have bought these Groupons previously, and the only thing to note about them is that they are NOT valid during Happy Hour… But I still get a Margarita because Chris and I will split a combo platter and each have a drink!!

To get this deal today, go here!

If you are new to Groupon, you can sign up Here!

Shop N Save: $10 off $50 Scenario

I get asked quite often how do I save so much on groceries. Well to answer that question I will be trying to post a weekly $10 off $50 scenario at Shop N Save.

I am also going to be basing all of these scenarios on buying 5 Sunday Papers each week (the number of papers I buy) and trying to hit the $50 mark as close as possible.

And if you don't follow along exactly, hopefully this will give you a good idea on how I put together my plans and how you can put yours together!!

I have been doing it this way for as long as I can remember and I often share MY scenarios with  friends and co-workers!

Unfortunately, this isn't the greatest sale week at Shop N Save, but hopefully after a few weeks you will start to notice a difference in your grocery budget!

With that said... Here you go!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

BEFORE COUPON TOTAL: $50.31
AFTER COUPON TOTAL: $19.46 plus tax

And like I said before, this isn't the best week for sales, but as you can see, you can still do pretty good! The above scenario is a 62% savings, AND that is just off sale prices! When compared to actual retail costs, your savings will be even MORE!

TIP: What I typically like to do, is use any FREE product coupons I might have, like the cottenelle fresh wipes coupon from a few weeks ago. By doing this you can spread that $10 off $50 and $5 off $50 even further!

Hope this helps you to keep saving!! And feel free to come back and share your scenario!!

The Summer of Savings: Estate Sales and Repurposing!

Couponing has really hit it big time nowadays and has become quite a trend. But Couponing is not the only way to save money either. For me, being frugal has really become more of a lifestyle I have tried to embrace. When I go out, I prefer to go during happy hour or to a place I have a coupon for (or groupon). Even home decorating has become something I try to stay frugal about.

Because I want to show just how many ways you can be frugal, I am starting the Summer of Savings. I will try and give you all of the ways I try to save money, and not just by couponing! AND I want to hear all of the ways you save money!!

When Chris and I first moved into our house, I knew things were going to get expensive and we had planned for it. We knew we would need to buy essentials and we knew we wanted to paint and other odds and ends like that. One thing I hadn’t planned for was how much curtains and other decorative accents cost.

In our quest for some of our essentials, Chris and I started to get up early on Saturday mornings and head to estate sales. Not yard sales, estate sales. For me the concept is a little depressing, but it’s a fact of life and a great way to save!

Every Friday afternoon we would check Craigslist in the Garage sale section. And from there we would JUST check estate sales. We would go through and read what a lot of them had to offer and decide if they were worth our time. We hit quite a few “junky” sales, but we also hit a few jackpots.

Last summer I picked up a near brand new, washer and dryer for $35… for the set. I really negotiated that one down! Personally I don’t like to negotiate because I am more passive aggressive, but after seeing a few other successful folks, I decided to give it a whirl. And I scored!

Another one we picked up our electric lawn mower for $25! We saw it for $50 on Saturday and on Sunday, everything was half off. We decided that if it was meant to be, it would be there the next day, and sure enough! The one we bought had barely been used, AND they let us test it out before we took it home... THEN they threw in an extension cord (you can never have too many of them)!!! Before that we had just been cutting the lawn with a weed eater we picked up for about $5 since our yard is on the smaller side.

We also picked up an ENTIRE wrought iron patio set (Chairs, Table and Umbrella) for $50! And at the same estate sale we found a REALLY NICE wooden futon WITH mattress and cover for $50! My sister has one JUST like it she used in college, and her's cost over $300!

While we picked up some GREAT deals, one of my favorites was actually what I turned my kitchen curtains into.

Now, if you didn't know, I am originally from the East Coast, and that is where my heart really belongs. BUT I have started to get used to not having the ocean within a 2 hour drive, or going boating. And while we have the Mississippi nearby, it just hasn't cut it for me. (And just as a side note, I was so not used to "river" water. When we were searching for Apartments 3 years ago, I asked "Is the River always this brown..." and the response I got back was, "That's why they call it the Muddy Mississippi.")

While the beach and a boat may be a 13 hour drive (or longer depending on where you go) away, I have done ALL I can to have that Nautical feeling in our home.

We stepped into one Estate Sale last year and it was meant to be. I found Nautical Pictures and most of all, about 50 small Nautical Signal Flags you would typically find on a sail boat. I didn't have a clue what to do with these flags, but I knew I HAD to have them! So for $10 they were mine.

I got home, pulled them all out to inspect them and while some were more beat up than others, some had a newly weathered look. As they were sitting on my couch, a lightbulb went off in my head! CURTAINS!!!

I looked through them all and decided on which flags were my favorite. I washed and ironed them, and then gave them a simple and quick sew together. About an hour later, and a trip to Target, I had my kitchen curtains!!

So in total, I paid $10 for 50 flags, and about $15 for all of the hardware (which isn't fancy!)... and for $25 I have kitchen curtains that are totally unique and fits my theme PERFECTLY! And I love these so much more than anything I could have found at Lowes, Target or JC Pennys!!

Repurposing and thinking outside the box has been able to save me A LOT and I hope to show you how it can help you save. If you have suggestions for the Summer of Savings posts, I would LOVE to hear them (and feel free to send pictures too!!).

Here's to a Summer of Savings!!!
