Walgreens 5/1- 5/7

Usually I don't go to Walgreens unless they have some AMAZING deal I can't pass up. And while Walgreens has great deals, it does not have much in the way of customer service... or maybe I am just used to being treated so kindly at CVS... Either way, Walgreens has some great deals as well this week that I just don't think I will be able to pass up!

Both CVS and Walgreens have Right Guard Body wash on sale this week but Walgreens beats CVS! Walgreens has the Right Guard Body Wash on sale for B1G1 and there is the B1G1 Coupon in the 5/1 RP making both of them FREE!! CVS has these with an ECB deal and after the coupon and ECB they will be $.25... but FREE is better than $.25!

Walgreens has a new coupon booklet for the Month of May! One of the coupons makes for a GREAT deal! Tylenol Precise Pain Relief retails for about $7.99. There is a $3 off Walgreen's coupon in the booklet, combine with the $5 off coupon from here to make for some Free Tylenol Precise!

There is also a pretty good deal on Cottenelle Toilet Paper too! Cottenelle 12 pks are on sale for $5 and to make things even sweeter there is also a RR deal to go along with this! WYB 2 packages of Cottenelle 12 pks you get a $3 RR and if you buy 3, you get a $4 RR back! The best way to make this work would be to buy 2 Cottenelle 12 pks, use the $.50 coupon from here amd the $1 off coupon from the May Walgreens Coupon booklet (which will take $1 off each pkg) and Pay $7 OOP. Then you will get $3 in RR back and its like getting each 12 pk for $2 each!!

And one of the more delicious deals of the week is on Hershey's Candy which are on sale for $.49. Use the B1G1 Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate bar coupon from the 5/1 SS and pick up candy bars for $.25!! Mmmm!

Happy Shopping!

CVS Deals 5/1- 5/7

One thing I think that has helped me coupon is to plan ahead what I am going to buy. This way I can go to the store prepared with my coupons and know exactly what it is going to cost before coupons and what I will end up paying after coupons.

With that being said, I am going to try and get the weekly drug store deals out to you ASAP! This way you will be able to plan your deals sooner!!

I really like what CVS has to offer this week! Here are some of the BEST deals of the week!

I was starting to run low on bar soap so I am really excited about this deal! CVS has Ivory 3 pk bar soaps on sale for $.99! Then use the $1 off coupon from the 5/1 P&G and score some FREE soap!

Colgate Max is on sale for $2.77 and you get an ECB for $2.77 back! On top of that use the $.75 coupon from the 5/1 SS!!

Right Guard or Dry Idea products are on sale for $2.49 and there is an awesome B1G1 coupon in the 5/1 RP for Right Guard or Dry Idea Products. AND you get $1 ECB (limit 2 per household) making them only $.25 after coupon and ECB!!

Nestle Singles are on sale for $.50 and there is a coupon in the 5/1 SS for $.50 off 2 making them only $.25 each!

I really like soft scrub products so I will be looking out for this deal for sure! Soft Scrub is on sale for $1.99. Go here to sign up and print a coupon for $1.50 off making it only $.50!!!

And don't forget about the Nivea deal I posted about here!

Mailbox Surprises!

It has been raining in St Louis for over a week! We have had more Tornado warnings in the past week than we have had the entire 3 years we have been in St Louis! Hopefully April Showers will be done soon so we can start to see some of those May Flowers, even though I would just be excited to see some SUN!

But when its gloomy and dreary outside, it just kind of puts you in that kind of a mood too, ya know. Even with all this rain and drearyness, I was still excited to see my mailbox surprise today!

In the mail today was a pamphlet from Pringles! In it was 4 coupons and one was for a free canister of chips! I hadn't signed up for anything so I was REALLY shocked to see these coupons! But a few minutes later Chris admitted he was the one who had signed up through an email he had gotten several weeks ago!

Have you gotten anything exciting in the mail recently?

Guest Post: Adam Morgan Foundation Fun Run

One thing I have yet to mention is that I am a big advocate for charity. Charity can come in many different forms, from time, money or simply your couponing donations! But there is one I want to highlight today because it is a charity that is very important to my best friend Ashley! She has written up a post for us with all of the information! Check it out below:

Hello extreme couponers! I am writing a guest post on my lovely friend Rebecca’s blog to let everyone know about a great charity fun run on Saturday, April 30th!

With those big bucks that Becca has been saving you, a great thing to spend that extra cash on would be admission/donations to the race for the Adam Morgan Foundation.

The Adam Morgan Foundation strengthens families raising children with Autism Spectrum Disorders by providing resources, equipment and interventions at little to no cost. Rachel Morgan, the founder and mother of Adam Morgan, has done a wonderful job to promote inclusion in the classroom as well as give help and support to families raising children with Autism.

The AM Fun Run on Saturday April 30th at 7pm in Frontier Park near downtown St. Charles is in need of more runners to participate in the 5k or 10k races and volunteers to help run the event. There is also a 1.5 mile walk if you don’t want to run in the race!

Here is the website to the Adam Morgan Foundation where you can learn more about the foundation itself, how to donate and how to participate in the AM Fun Run on April 30th in St. Charles, MO at 7pm!

Rain Checks!!!

Rain, Rain, Go Away. Come Again Another Day!

With all the rain and storms we have been having recently, I figured it would be a good time to talk about rain checks!

Have you ever walked into a store expecting to get a great deal only to walk in and see the shelf is empty!

It's quite a bummer, I know, I've been there. But there is a way to beat that feeling... Rain Checks!!!

Personally, I think Rain checks get their name from the gloomy feeling you get when you see an empty shelf... And then when you go back to the store to pick up the product, it's like the Sun has come out and is shining on the great deal you just got!!

But in all seriousness, rain checks are great. Stores inevitably don't keep their shelves stocked up enough when a good sale hits. When this happens, simply go to customer service or the cashier and have them write you up a rain check at the advertised sale price!

Then when the sale is over and the shelves are fully stocked again, you can get the deal for the same price as previously advertised!

CVS is great about rain checks! They never expire and you can still get the ECB that was advertised with the deal!

Walgreens' rain checks aren't as good though. If it is just for an item on sale, with no RR attached to the deal, their rain checks are great! And unlike CVS, Walgreens will not issue rain checks for items with Register Rewards.

But even with some stipulations, Rain Checks are great tool to take advantage of!

And don't be afraid to ask for one! I have heard all kinds of excuses from cashiers before, but it's not your fault it's not in stock!

Dierbergs 4/26- 5/2

One big misconception about Dierbergs is that because the regular prices are a little pricier that there are no deals to be had... Wrong!

Dierbergs has some awesome sales and it's my favorite grocery store! It reminds me A LOT of this grocery store I would frequent in Virginia.

But this week Dierbergs redeemed the grocery store deals!

Dierbergs has this GREAT meat sale and it seems to have changed a bit since the last time they had it. Dierbergs calls it their $5 Meat Sale. While not all of the meat is a great deal, the chicken is usually an awesome deal. I have picked up packages of chicken that were originally $11 for $5! You have to buy at least 3 packages to get the $5 price, but if you look around and check the original prices I am sure you will find a great deal!

Not only is the meat on sale, but one of my favorite brands of salsa on sale! I love Wholly products and the salsa is on sale for $1.49 and the Guacamole is $1.74! Use the $1 off coupon from Here or the $.50 from the 4/20 SS! Perfect timing for those Cinco de Mayo parties!

Another sale I'm excited about this week is the New York Texas Toast Garlic Bread Products! They are on sale for $1.49 and then you can use the $.40 off coupon from the 3/6 SS. The $.40 coupon will double and it will only cost you $.69!!!

Propel water is Free this week at Diebergs! It's on sale for 2/ $1 and then use the $1 off 2 coupon from the 2/13 SS!

Dierbergs also has DanActive Yogurt and Dannon Light & Fit Yogurt on sale for $1.98! I like both of these a lot! Use the $1 off DanActive coupon from the 3/6 SS or the $.40 off Dannon Light & Fit coupon from the 4/10 SS which will double!

What kind of deals did you get at Dierbergs this week?

Happy Shopping!

Schnucks 4/25- 5/1

This week's grocery store ads have not been very impressive but there are still a few deals to be had!

Schnucks beats Shop N Save's Fuze drinks price this week! Schnucks has them on sale for $.88 and if you use the $1 off 2 coupon from the 4/10 SS you can pick them up for .38 a piece!!

Philly Cooking Creme is on sale for $2.47 and use the $1.50 off coupon from the 3/6 SS!

If you are getting ready for Cinco de Mayo next week, Scnucks has Pace Salsa on sale for $2. Use the $.35 off 2 coupon from the 1/31 RP! This coupon will double at Schnucks so it will be just $1.65 a bottle!!

Schnucks also has a Catalina Deal on Nestle Products this week where if you buy $20 worth of products you get $5 back! Some of the products included are below!

They have 12 pk ice mountain water bottles on sale for $2. Use the $1 off coupon lHere or the $1 off 2 coupon from Here!!

Entertainment Book: $15 and FREE Shipping!

If you have been following my blog, more specifically my Shop N Save posts, you might be a little familiar with the Entertainment Book.

If you are new to couponing you might have been asking yourself what the Entertainment Book is and why I keep mentioning it. If you have been couponing awhile you might already know the answers to these questions.

But if you are new, this is a great resource for coupons. In this book there are coupons for all kinds of places from McDonalds and other fast food restaurants! It has coupons for sit down restaurants, and family activities!

But the BEST part about the St Louis Entertainment book isn't the Chik-fil-a coupons, even though those are awesome, its the Shop N Save coupons!

Each St Louis Entertainment Book has SIX Shop N Save coupons for $5 off $50 purchase!!! These coupons can be combined with Shop N Save's $10 off $50 promotion! So if you spend $50 worth of groceries and shop on a $10 off $50 Thursday AND use the $5 off coupon then you are automatically getting $15 dollars off before coupons!!!

Entertainment books are good until November so that means there is only about 6 months until the new Entertainment Book comes out! But that is good news for you because Entertainment books are at a HUGE Discount! They usually retail for $35 and you can pick them up at Walgreens, CVS or Shop N Save to name a few.

But if you buy it from here you can pick it up for $15 a book!!! And if you buy more than one book they are only $10 after the first $15 book!! That means for the same price ($35) that you can buy it at Shop N Save or Walgreens, you can buy 3 books here!!! AND to top all of that its FREE SHIPPING!!!

This past week I used my last $5 off $50 coupon so this deal had PERFECT timing! So if you need an Entertainment Book either for yourself or a gift go here to pick one up and have it sent straight to your door!!

Shop N Save 4/25- 4/29

Shop N Save sure has some slim pickings this week when it comes to coupon match ups.

AND on top of that there is NO $10 off $50 this week... What a bummer.

But in case you are still planning on going to Shop N Save I wanted to post some of the coupon match ups! I also wanted to let you know that the Crestwood Shop N Save matches the Sappington Farmer's Market's coupon for $10 off $50 on Thursday! Go Here to print off your coupon!

Fuze drinks are still on sale this week at Shop N Save for $1. Use the $1 off 2 coupon from the 4/20 SS and pay just $.50 each! And I bought some of these last week and didn't realize how delicious they are!

CPK (California Pizza Kitchen) pizzas for 1 are on sale for $2.50. Use the $1 off coupon from the 2/20 SS and pay $1.50 for an oh so yummy pizza!! Mmm!

And DiGiorno Pizza & Wyngz are on sale for $6.48. Use the $1.25 coupon from the 4/17 RP!

Kraft Homestyle Mac & Cheese on sale for $2.50. Use the $1 off coupon from the 4/17 SS and pay just $1.50!

Prairie Farms 1/2 gallon of ice cream on sale for $2.50. Use the $1 off 2 coupon from the 1/30 RP and pick up ice cream for just $2 each!!!

Coupon Organization

One thing that has helped me become a successful couponer is keeping my coupons organized.

Once you have started to grow your coupon stash, the amount of coupons you have can start to get overwhelming, especially if you are cutting them all out.

When I first started couponing I tried several ways of organizing before I settled on one that worked for me.

I started out buying 2 papers each Sunday and I began by painstakingly cutting each coupon from the insert and putting them into a VERY small accordion file. After a few weeks that filing system was full and I graduated to another small accordian file, this time it had 3 times more pockets. But after a few weeks, cutting coupons and organizing them by category got really old.

Eventually even that accordion file filled up and I couldn't keep up with the cutting and tossing away of expired coupons.

Then I moved on to writing the dates on the outside of the inserts to keep then organized but inevitably I still managed to stay unorganized.

Finally I settled on my current method of organization...

I have all of my coupon inserts together in a filing cabinet (I used to use one of those colorful egg crate boxes which is a great and inexpensive option!).

I separate each week into a hanging folder, and then each type of insert into a separate tab folder. I write the date the insert came out and what kind of insert it is on the file folder, this way, when a coupon is listed i.e. 4/17 SS, all I have to do is go to that date, find the folder marked 4/17 SS. Then once I have found that folder, I look for the coupon in the insert and cut it out.

By doing it this way I know whether or not I received the coupon or if I have used it. It also cuts down on all of the tedious cutting each week leaving me with plenty of time to do other things!

And when my file cabinet is full and I need to put in another week's coupons, I pull the oldest set of coupons out, and put the new folder in. I double check the coupons in the oldest inserts to make sure all of the coupons have expired and if I come across one that hasn't, I cut it out and put it in one of my OLD small accordian files. By doing it this way I am able to reuse the same hanging and tab folders over and over again so I am not spending extra money on organizing my coupons!! This is definitely an added bonus for me because I am all about repurposing and reusing!!

When I am ready to do my shopping and I have cut out the coupons that I plan on using, I then put them together in my original small accordion file divided up by store. This way I know exactly how many of each item I am planning on getting and all I have to do is pull out my coupons at the register! And the best part is that this accordion file fits in my purse!!!

This is just the method that works for me. There are many other ways to organize your coupons such as in binders with baseball card sleeves. Those methods just didn't work for me because I am always on the go and my time is very precious. I tried to cut out each coupon but the amount of time I was having to dedicate to cutting was not worth it for me. Plus I like that this way has the greatest return with the smallest amount of effort!

And while this way works best for me, I want to stress the importance of organizing your coupons in a way that works for you... Because in the end you are the one who has to find and use the coupons.

What kind of organizational method do you use?

CVS 4/24

I'm not sure I have expressed this before but I LOVE CVS! The store I shop at is almost alwas fully stocked and has the friendliest cashier. On top of all of that, CVS has so many ways to get money back, like the Beauty Club, the Magic Coupon Machine, Quarterly Spending and your Regular ECB deals to name a few!

But enough about how much I love CVS, let me tell you my favorite deals!

I started out with $7 in ECBs ($5 from $50 in Beauty Club Spending (Before Coupons) and $2 from the Head and Shoulders). My Before Coupon total was $34.05 and paid $2.22 after tax and got a $5 ECB back!!!!

I bought 4 Clean and Clear Body Washes on sale for $5.79 and when you spend $15 in Clean and Clear Products you get $5 in ECB! I used 2 B1G1 coupon from the 3/27 SS and 2 $2 off coupons from here making them $1.90 each!

I also picked up 6 bags of Peanut M&Ms on sale for B2G1 and I used 2 of the B2G1 Coupon from the 3/13 RP (and it expires today!). If you don't have the coupon from the 3/13 there are coupons for B2G1 Peanut Butter M&Ms, Snickers, Dove or Twix from the 3/27 RP! I also had 2 $.25 off 3 CVS coupons that came out of the magic coupon maching today and one from last week!

And the BEST deal of the week is on Dove Men's Deodorant on sale for $.99! Use the $1 off coupon from the 3/27 RP and get it for free (limit 5)!!

Toys R Us 4/23

Most people don't start thinking about Christmas until Novermber/December, but I start thinking about Christmas on December 26th. I like having an entire year to find Christmas gifts (or Birthday gifts)! This way I am able to buy more gifts for our family and friends without breaking the bank and often they are more personal! I am even able to buy gifts for Chris' and my Mom's dogs this way too (and my two boys as well)!

But I went to Toys R Us today to pick up Candy Land and Chutes and Ladders on sale for $4.99 and used the $2 off coupon from here making it only $2.99!!!

I also bought 2 Mr Potato heads on sale for $3.99 and used the $2 off coupon from here and paid just $1.99!!

I just hope by December 25th the recipients forget I got this deal!

NO COUPON INSERTS THIS WEEK!

Holidays usually bring families and fun for most people, but it also brings empty newspapers.

I know, its a BUMMER, but there are't any inserts in this Sunday's paper. But there will still be sales and I will be sharing those soon!!

Target and Walmart 4/23

I have not gone couponing at Target or Walmart in a nice LONG while so I decided I would take a trip out there.

I always feel like Target and Walmart are more pricey at the stores I shop at OR the shelves are empty for the products I am looking for. While I had a few of those problems today, I was still able to score some Great Deals!!

At Target, my before coupon total was $52.83 and I paid $11.24! Not the best trip ever but I was still ok with it!

I picked up 6 Ore-ida potato products on sale B2G1 at $2.49. I used 3 $1 off 2 coupons from the 4/3 SS and paid just $1.16 per bag! When I need a quick side these are PERFECT!

I bought 4 nail clippers and 1pair of tweezers. The nail clippers at my store sold for $1.84 and the tweezers for $2.29 and I used the $2 off any Revlon Beauty tool Target coupon from the 4/17 SS. And I'm sure you are thinking... who needs 4 nail clippers... well I will be giving these as personal care item donations or just silly stocking stuffers!

I also picked up 2 boxes of Allegra Allergy 5ct for free that are on sale for 6.48. I used the $2 off Target coupon from here and the $5 off coupon from the 4/17 SS. ( You can combine Target coupons with a manufacter's coupon!)

I bought 5 Rimmel Mascaras on sale for $2.24 and used 4 $2 off any Rimmel Mascara coupons from here and 1 $2 off any Rimmel Mascara coupon from the April issue of All You Magazine so I paid just $.24 for each Mascara!

I also bought 1 Nivea Women's Body Wash on sale for $3.99 and used the $3 off coupon from the 4/17 SS and used a $1 off any Nivea Body Wash Target coupon I got in the mail a few weeks ago.

But as silly as it sounds I was most excited about the Orbit Gum on sale for $.99! I had been wanting to try the new Strawberry flavor so I used the $.75 off Target coupon from here!!

There were only a few things I was interested in at Walmart but I figured I would stop buy since I was in the area. I usually shy away from Walmart because it is ALWAYS a madhouse!

I picked up 2 Toy Story 3 Operations Games on Rollback for $5!!! I used the $3 off any Operation game coupon from here or from here and paid just $2!! This is PERFECT for Christmas gifts or a last minute Birthday gift!

I also bought an Iron Man 2 Arc Light toy one sale for $3.50 and used the $3 off any Iron Man 2 toy coupon toy from here! Another great gift idea!

And Last but not least I bought Lysol wipes, something I LOVE! They had 2 packs on sale for $2.52 and I used the $1.50 coupon from here so I paid just $.51 each!!! I could have bought them at Target for $.39 each but I would have only gotten 2, and this way I got 4!!

What kind of stuff did you find at Target or Walmart?

Happy Shopping!

CVS 4/23

I went back to CVS this week after I realized I had a $2 off Head and Shoulders coupon I got from a P&G mailer awhile back. Head and Shoulders was on sale for $4.99 and you got a $2 ECB back!

I also had a coupon for Buy any Head and Shoulders Shampoo and get a free Head and Shoulders Conditioner from the 4/17 RP.

I ended up paying $4.83 after taxes for one Shampoo and one Conditioner (the Conditioner was $5.89 and the max on the coupon was $4.74). After all was said and done I got a $2 ECB back from the Head and Shoulders and I got a $5 ECB back from CVs' Beauty Club!

You can enroll in their Beauty Club by having a cashier scan your Extra Care Card as well as a Tearpad "coupon" that enrolls that card in the Beauty Club. You can usually find these Tearpads in the Beauty Section and for every $50 you spend you get $5 back!

Did you get any good deals at CVS this week?

Shop N Save 4/21

It's another $10 off $50 week at Shop n Save!! And there are definitely some good deals to be had.

There is a great Catalina deal on Splenda. WYB 2 Splenda you get a $3 coupon valid OYNO (on your next order) and if you buy 3 you can get $4 OYNO! I did both of these scenarios using the $3 off any 80 ct Splenda or more from the 4/17 SS. The store I shopped in had the 80 ct Splenda for $4.56! After coupons I paid $7.30 and got back $7 in Catalinas!!

I did a late Shop N Save trip (or early depending on how you look at it) so I could show you the deals! My total before coupons was 52.83 and I paid $.69!!!

Shop n Save is having another Catalina deal this week where you get $5 back OYNO when you buy 10 products!

I bought 5 Stove Tops at $1.24 using the $.50 coupon in 4/3 SS and 5 Kraft Big Slice Cheese at $2.50 using the $1 off coupon from the 4/17 SS!

But those aren't the only items that match up for the Catalina deal....

Crystal Light drink mix on sale for $1.50 and Use the B2G1 Coupon in the 4/3 SS

Kraft Salad Dressing on sale for $1.67 and use the $1 off 2 coupon from the 4/10 SS

Kraft Shredded Cheese on sale for $1.78 and use the $1 off 2 coupon from the 3/13 SS

Ritz Crackerfuls on sale for $2.50 and use the $1 off coupon from the 4/17 SS

But the Kraft deals aren't the only good deals this week!

I picked up 6 Fuze drinks on sale for $1 and used the $1 off 2 coupons from the 4/10 SS

I also picked up 5 boxes of Quick Cook Pasta on sale for $1 and used the $.55 off coupn from the 4/10 SS

McCormick Grillmate spices are still on sale for $1 and I used the $.75 off coupon from the 4/10 RP

Philadelphia Cooking Creme is also still on sale for $2. Use the $1.50 off coupon from the 3/6 SS and score it for .50!

I also used the $2 off any Purina Beyond Cat food on the small boxes that were $2.48, so only $.48 after coupon. I bought 5 and will be donating them to Stray Rescue St Louis!

I bought 2 cans of Dole Pineapple and used the $.50 off 2 coupon from the 4/10 SS. Cool Whip is on sale for $.88 and while I didn't have a coupon, I still thought it was a good price.

I also used two Free product coupons to buy my 12 pk of Coke Zero Vanilla and a 20 oz Cherry Coke I got from My Coke Rewards! I gave up Soda for Lent so I bought that Cherry Coke (my fav) to have Easter morning!

And since it was a $10 off $50 Thursday, I got $10 off and I used the $5 off $50 coupon from the St Louis Entertainment Book!

And just an FYI, Walgreens will have 100 ct packages of Splenda on sale for $2.99 next week and is offering Register Rewards in the same increments mentioned above. So after the coupons and RR it will be a Money Maker if you save those Splenda coupons!!!

Did you take advantage of the $10 off $50? If so, how'd you do?

Happy Shopping!

Where To Find Coupons!

Coupons have a long history in the United States and while they have been around since the 1800’s (yes, 1800’s, by Coca Cola no less) they have yet to be used to their full extent. Over 300 BILLION dollars in coupons are printed each year and yet only about 1% are used. And while 1% of a billion is still an impressive figure in itself, it is still only 1%.

Coupons are everywhere! They come each week in your Sunday paper (my personal favorite place to find coupons!), they hang on the grocery store shelves, they come in the mail and now they can even be printed off the internet. With so many resources to find coupons, wouldn’t you think that MORE than 1% of coupons are being redeemed.

When you are first trying to find coupons, the BEST place to start is with your Sunday Paper. And just because you don’t see a coupon in there at first glance that might be “a good deal,” don’t give up. Coupons have a long life for a reason, because not everything goes on sale right away.

One of the best, and most recent examples I can think of is a coupon for Propel Zero Flavored Water and the deal I posted (Here). Schnucks, a local St Louis grocery store chain is having a sale on the Propel water, it’s on sale for 2/$1, or $.50 each. WAAAAY back in February (2/13 SS) there was a coupon for $1 off any 2 Propel Zero. When this coupon first came out in February there wasn’t much that interested me in this coupon. It wasn’t a product I typically buy and it wasn’t that great of a coupon. But that changed 2 months later when that coupon now matches up with a sale to make this water FREE.

If I had just cut the coupons out for just the products I wanted and then thrown away my insert, I never would have scored Free Propel. So just because a coupon doesn’t seem appealing at first, doesn’t mean it won’t in the following weeks! So don’t shy away from the inserts, they are one of the BEST coupon resources out there!

Another great place to find coupons is the grocery store. Manufacturers send the grocery store packs of coupons to try and promote their products. Most people when they are in the grocery store always seem to buy more than what they came in for and those coupons are meant for those exact moments. When you see those coupons grab one or two off the tear pad, or blinkie and save it for later if you aren’t planning on purchasing that product today. If it’s a manufacturers coupon you can use it at other stores as well! However, be respectful to others and don’t take the whole tear pad by any means, it’s unethical and isn’t fair to other couponers and buyers. And a few of the best places to check for these tear pad coupons… the customer service counter AND the beer aisle!

This past January, right before the Super Bowl, there were tear pads galore! Two instances that really stick out in my mind were for DiGiorno Pizzas and Tostitos. In one of the local grocery stores I was able to find a $3 off any 2 DiGiorno Pizza coupon (courtesy of Miller Lite) with the Miller Lite Display. If you had looked to quick you might have missed it! But that same week, CVS had DiGiornos on sale for B1G1. I was able to use the manufacturer’s coupon I found at the grocery store at CVS on their sale scoring REALLY cheap pizzas!!

During this same period, Tostitos tortilla chips were on sale (go figure with the Super Bowl being right around the corner). Well, we have 3 different grocery store chains in St Louis: Shop N Save, Schnucks and Dierbergs. All three store had a different coupon that had something to do with Tostitos. Schnucks and Dierbergs both had the chips on sale for $1.99 and they are regularly $3.99. Dierbergs had a Tearpad for $1 off any bag of Tostitos, making them $.99 after the coupon. Schnucks had coupons that read, “Buy 2 bags of Tostitos Chips and get a free bottle of Tostitos salsa or dip!” Wow, so now I pay $1.98 and get 2 bags of chips, and 1 salsa! To make things EVEN better, Shop N Save had coupons that read, “buy one bag of Tostitos Chips and one Tostitos Salsa or Dip and get one free Pepsi 2-liter!” WHOA, so now for $1.98 I was able to get 2 bags of tortilla chips, one salsa and one 2-liter all because I watched out for tear pad coupons!

Since the birth of email, “snail mail” has slowly been phased out for a much quicker electronic option. But if you are a couponer, you still look forward to the old-fashioned mail. Most of the time signing up on manufacturer’s websites guarantee coupons, but occasionally you will get a promotional coupon in the mail! Most people will toss these but you never know when a sale might hit and having that coupon will allow you to pick it up at a rock bottom price!

If there is a particular product you are fond of and notice that you never see any coupons for it, give the company an email telling them how much you like their product. And to Thank You for your kind words, often manufacturers will send you a coupon (and sometimes it’s for a FREE Product)!!

Even though I still enjoy checking my mail each day, I cannot forget the Goliath of a coupon resource that is the internet. While sites like Coupons.comRedPlum.comSmartSource.com offer coupons constantly and revolve their selection each month. Some brands offer internet printable coupons on their websites. Some you will need to sign up for their newsletters, others you don’t. Either way, check the websites of products you use or you see on sale for printable coupons!

And if all of this seems overwhelming, which it definitely can be, check places like AFullCup.com that have coupon databases. Sign up on their website and start searching. Just type in a product name and if there is a coupon, the database will list all of the places you can find it!

The Happiest Hour: Bar Louie

One of my favorite TV shows is called Drinking Made Easy. It's a hilarious show about these guys who travel the country on a bus for their comedy tour. But in every city they stop at, they "explore the local drinking culture."

There is only one problem with the show... Some of the featured drinks aren't very wallet conscious.

It shouldn't surprise you, but I try to be as frugal in every aspect of my life, and that includes Happy Hour.

Bars offer awesome specials, some all day, others for just a few hours. Either way, my goal is to explore the frugality of Happy Hour. I will share the drink AND food specials at these establishments so that when you get a chance, you can decide if their specials are a great deal!

The first Happiest Hour post will be coming from Bar Louie in the Central West End of St Louis.

What makes Bar Louie special is that it is a chain restaurant AND it has a rewards card. With locations in 16 States the Happy Hours may vary from state to state.

Here in Missouri, Bar Louie offers $3 drafts, $4 House Wine, $5 Martinis and selected half price appetizers.

And if you think $3 drafts means your typical bud and bud light, you'd be wrong. Bar Louie offers a wide range of drafts from Woodchuck cider (which is delicious and gluten free) to Blue Moon and Guinness.

I enjoyed a fantastic Blue Moon and some delicious half price calamari! And not only did we enjoy food, friends and beer... We also got free shirts!!

And while we went to Happy Hour on a Friday, we might go back on a Wednesday for $5 buckets of beer!

Mailbox Surprises

Most people hate checking the mail because there are always bills and things of that nature in it. As a couponer, I have to say, I LOVE getting the mail. There are always lots of fun surprises.

Today I got a few magazines (another great spot to find coupons) and a Penzey's Spices catalog!

Why am I so excited about a catalog? Well this catalog comes with a coupon for a free product!!!

Most months the coupon is for a specific spice. This month it is my pick!! This way I can check what I need and get it for free! WOOO!

If you have a Penzey's Spice near you, I would suggest signing up for their mailing list! Then you can start getting your free spices too!!

Shop N Save Trip 4/14

During my episode of Extreme Couponing I admitted I would go to the store at anytime to get a deal. While most trips that I go couponing I don't abide by that because I value my beauty rest. But there are some days that I think the deal may be sold out or I won't get the product I'm looking for and I will go early.

Today was one of those days! The deal on chicken and Philadelphia cooking Creme was too good to pass up. Check out my post Here that explains the deal.

So Chris and I woke up early, got to the store when it opened at 6am and started shopping. I had to make sure I had planned everything out because I was on a time crunch! I had to do all of my shopping, go back home, put my stuff away and still be at work by 7am!!!

I started by grabbing the spices and chicken then moved onto the cooking creme. But there were only 2 packages left!! I found an employee to help. In a few moments a manager was bringing out more cooking creme, And in my favorite flavors (Savory Garlic and Italian Herb)!!

After I had picked up everything I needed, it was time to check out. I was so lucky to get an awesome cashier as well!

Once everything was rung up, my total after sales was $51.68! After all the discounts and coupons were applied, I walked out paying just $3.50 including tax!!! What a great way to start the day!!

Before Coupons and Store Discount: $51.68

After Coupons and Store Discounts: $3.50

7 Philadelphia Cooking Cremes : $2 - $1.50 coupon 3/6 SS

7 packages of chicken : Averaging $3.41 a package - in ad manufacturers coupon for $1.50

4 McCormick Grillmate Spices : $1 - $.75 coupon from 4/10 RP

1 NY Texas Toast Garlic Bread: $2 - $1 off coupon from tearpad found back in February

1 Jello Temptations: $2.88 - Free Product coupon from Kraft first taste

1 Fresca 12-pk: $3.22- Free Product coupon from My Coke Rewards

1 Coke Zero 20oz: $1.58 - Free product coupon from My Coke Rewards

And I used a $5 off $50 coupon for Shop N Save located in the St Louis area Entertainment Book. And Shop N Save had their $10 off $50 promotion!

Did anyone else take advantage of Shop N Save's $10 off $50 today? Tell us what kind of deals you scored!

Also if you are in MO and planning on buying over $10 in beef, seafood, or poultry, keep an eye out for a $10 MIR courtesy of Corona (no beer purchase necessary)!!! I know I bought over $10 of chicken today so I will be submitting for my $10 back! Making this trip a $6.50 Money Maker!!!
